A discovery!

Once in a while I have a search party through my work. Today I have found a watercolour executed about 5 years ago. I had been inspired by this beautiful carriage passing in front of the Imperial hotel (now Mercury) in Hythe - Kent.

Card or print are available

Holbein watercolour artist paint

For years I have been working with Winsor and Newton artist watercolour.

I am working on floral and I had read that botanical artists preferred Holbein paint and so I am trying some of them.

I am thrilled. They are fine, transparent and the colours are so vibrant. A definite favourite for flower painting.

Watercolour paper

To stretch or not to stretch ?

I love the fact that when stretching my paper, I feel pretty confident that it will not buckle. However I feel that my paper behaves like blotting paper.

I will revert to Not stretching, I am using Arches 140lbs or Saunders Waterford 140lbs or more.

My latest

I have been very busy lately.
I have created a design for NAPA, annual exhibition. I am waiting and will find out in September if my painting has been accepted.
Meanwhile I am going mad on watercolours.... as usual.
